THE ESSENTIAL SUFFERING; BUT A SUFFERING THAT BRINGS JOY

"I WILL DECLARE THE WONDER OF YOUR NAME TO MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS." (NLT) HEB. 2:12/PS. 22:22
"I WILL PROCLAIM YOUR NAME TO MY BRETHREN." (NASB)

Lets fearlessly declare what kind of person God is, His character, His essential nature. That's what the above verse means. When we fearlessly declare WHO GOD IS, we crush the schemes of the evil one. When we die to sin, when we die to ourselves, we are demolishing and bringing satan to nothing and thereby freeing those who are in his control. Let's bring men, women and children from slavery to freedom. We are called to suffer, especially unjust suffering, so that we can help those who are suffering. Therefore, suffering brings us JOY provided we have our eyes to the future and eternity. "For the joy set before him, he endured the Cross. In Christ, we have an example. To achieve His Goal meant the WAY OF THE CROSS. Jesus was sensitive. A cross was a humiliating thing. It was for criminals, for those whom society regarded as the dregs of humanity - and yet he accepted it. Let's despise the world, despise ourselves and despise the fact that we are despised.  If Jesus could endure like that, so must we. Compare what we have to suffer with what Jesus suffered. He gave up the glory which was his; he came into all the narrowness of the life of humanity; he faced the hostility of men; in the end he had to die upon a cross. How can we compare what we have to go through with what he went through? He did all that for us - what are we going to do for him? Christian faith is a costly affair. It cost the lives of the martyrs; it cost the life of him who was the Son of God. There is a demand that comes to every Christian: "SHOW YOURSELF WORTHY OF THE SACRIFICE THAT MEN AND GOD HAVE MADE FOR YOU."
